Holidays
For families from the former Soviet Union, Novy God, the New Year, is the biggest celebration of the winter: a festive table on December 31 and the whole family at home. Flowers for the table, or for the hosts, say you are there with them.
Dates
December 31 is a normal working day in Israel, so flowers can arrive on the day itself, unless it falls on Shabbat. For a table that is set early, choose the day before. January 1 is a working day too.
For a card: “S Novym godom!” (С Новым годом!) is “Happy New Year” in Russian, and “Shana ezrachit tova” (שנה אזרחית טובה) is the Hebrew greeting for the new calendar year.
