Holidays
Israel marks Family Day (Yom HaMishpacha) in winter, the day that began as its Mother's Day, and many families with relatives in the US mark Mother's Day in May as well. Either way, a bouquet at the door is a lovely surprise.
Dates
Family Day falls on the 30th of the Hebrew month of Shevat, so its date moves each year. US Mother's Day is the second Sunday of May, a normal working day in Israel, so flowers can arrive on the day itself.
For a card: “Ima, ani ohev otach” (אמא, אני אוהב אותך) is “Mom, I love you”; a daughter writes “ohevet” (אוהבת).
Israel celebrates Family Day on the 30th of Shevat, in January or February, which began as Mother's Day. Many families also mark the US Mother's Day in May.
