Jewish Holidays, Shabbat & Delivery Timing in Israel

Sending flowers to Israel from abroad is easy once you know the rhythm of the Israeli week and the Jewish calendar. This guide covers when deliveries happen, when they do not, and what to write on the card.

The Israeli week

The working week in Israel runs from Sunday to Thursday, with a short Friday. Sunday is a normal working day. Shabbat begins at sundown on Friday and ends at nightfall on Saturday, and nothing is delivered then.

For flowers that should be there for the weekend, choose Friday, and order by Thursday. See Shabbat flowers.

Holidays and delivery days

Jewish holidays begin at sundown the evening before. Nothing is delivered on the festival days. Israel keeps one festival day where communities abroad keep two, except Rosh Hashanah, which is two days everywhere. Bouquets for each: Hanukkah, Purim, Passover, Independence Day, Shavuot, Tu B’Av, Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot and Mother’s Day.

Jewish holidays begin at sundown on the date shown. Dates follow the Israeli calendar, from hebcal.com.

Where we deliver

Questions

Do you deliver on Shabbat or on Jewish holidays?

No. We do not deliver on Shabbat (Friday evening to Saturday night) or on the festival days of Jewish holidays. For a weekend gift, choose Thursday or Friday. You can still place an order during Shabbat; if we have any questions, we reply after it ends. Our holiday delivery calendar lists every date.

Do Jewish holidays start the evening before?

Yes. Every Jewish holiday begins at sundown the evening before its first day, so the eve is when families gather. For a holiday table, choose a delivery a day or two before.

Do you deliver on Sunday?

Sunday is a normal working day in Israel, the first day of the week.

How far ahead is Israel from New York?

Seven hours for most of the year. The clocks change on different dates in the US and Israel, so for a few weeks in spring and autumn the gap is six hours.

Which cities do you deliver to?

We deliver to Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Kiryat Ono, Petah Tikva, Holon, Bat Yam, Azur, Rishon LeZion, Rehovot, Lod, Ramat HaSharon, Herzliya, Ra'anana, Kfar Saba, Netanya, Haifa. More about how delivery works.
